I had the pleasure of working with Don on a project to implement a Command and Control System for Suffolk Constabulary (1975-1977). He was very knowledgeable and used his dry humour to relieve the tension on a project that was working to tight deadlines and on a limited budget. Don led a team of 4 from Marconi and I was with a team of 3 from the Home Office. The system that Don worked so hard on remained in service for many years.
I always regarded Don as one of life's true gentlemen and someone that I learnt a lot from.
Sadly I lost touch with Don after the project but am still in contact with a number of people from Suffolk who remember him with fondness.
